My 25. postcard, and the second from Belgium. Marilyn Monroe was born on the first of June in 1926 in Los Angeles and died of overdose on the fifth of August in 1962. Her original name was Norma Jeane Mortenson but se was later baptized Norma Jeane Baker befor she took the stage name Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe was a singer, a model, an international fashion icon and above all an actress. She became the 1950's most famous film star. Marilyn's first role was a little part in The Shocking Miss Pilgrim (1947). Later she did altogether thirty-two films. Marilyn's the most popular films were especially musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and comedies How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), The Seven Year Itch (1955) and Some Like It Hot (1959).

Marilyn died mysteriously in her bedroom on the fifth of August in 1962. The scientist declared the cause of the death was suicide by poisoning but there are other suggestions too; accident or even murder. Will we ever know the truth?

25. postikorttini, toinen Belgiasta saatu kortti. Marilyn Monroe on syntynyt ensimmäinen kesäkuuta 1926 Los Angelesissa ja kuoli yliannostukseen viides elokuuta 1962. Hänen alkuperäinen nimensä oli Norma Jeane Mortenson mutta myöhemmin hänet on kastettu Norma Jeane Bakeriksi ennen kuin hän otti taiteilijanimekseen Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe oli laulaja, malli,kansainvälinen muoti-ikoni ja ennen kaikkea näyttelijä. Hänestä tuli 1950-luvulla suosituin filmitähti. Marilynin ensimmäinen rooli oli pieni osa elokuvassa Ihannesihteeri, 1947. Myöhemmin hän näytteli yhteensä 33:ssa elokuvassa. Marilynin suosituimmat elokuvat ovat erityisesti musikaali Herrat pitävät vaaleaveriköistä (1953) ja komediat Kuinka miljonääri naidaan (1953) ja Piukat paikat (1959).

Marilyn kuoli mysteerisesti makuuhuoneeseensa viides elokuuta 1962. Tutkijat ilmoittivat kuolinsyyksi myrkytyksellä tehdyn itsemurhan, mutta on myös muita ehdotuksia; onnettomuus tai jopa murha. Saammeko koskaan tietää totuutta?
